THE SPIRIT OF LEAVES
Eucalypt Day Workshop

Suggested Materials

  • A sprig (small branch) of eucalypts... or any little branch of any other leaves...
I like to flatten my leaves my leaves so that they are easier to draw and paint. I place them under a board with a few heavy books on top.
  • Or you could use a photograph resource image of gum leaves
  • A resource image of a bird (possibly an Australian native bird that lives in the Eucalypt tree). More info about birds in this replay.
  • Paper
    I will be using a watercolour paper that's A3 (approx 30x42cm, 12"x16.5") and 240gsm.
You can use absolutely any paper that you already have.
    You will need 2 pages.
Plus an extra page for drawing which can be copy paper.
  • Paint
A few basic colours in acrylic paint or water colour paint.
eg. Red, blue, yellow, white & burnt sienna (maybe black... whatever you have will be fine).
  • Brushes & tools
I love a big soft brush or sponge for beginning and then a couple of smaller ones for details. A skewer or stick for etching into the paint. Whatever you have is fine.
  • Drawing tools
Pencil, pen, marker or any other pointy drawing tool.
  • A piece of chalk
  • Water Spray Bottle
